Since the good old Arcanum from Troika Games doesn’t run very smoothly and flawlessly on all Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 computers, you will need to fix that „gibberish“ or lagging gameplay.
Fortunately, this is done very quick!
- Delete the old ddraw.dll file which might be located in your game directory. This should only be the case if you have purchased Arcanum from GOG.com.
- Create a new shortcut from the Arcanum.exe which is located in the game directory. Add the commands -nod3d and -doublebuffer or -triplebuffer to the target (like in the attachement).
- Download the new DirectDraw API from bitpatch.com and extract the files ddraw.dll, libwine.dll and wine3d.dll from the archive in your Arcanum game directory.
- And that’s it, you’re done! Have fun with Arcanum.

Furthermore we recommend the unofficial community patch for Arcanum, which fixes a couple of bugs, that have never been fixed by Troika Games itself.
